Adoption Journey
Timeline…
Summer 2007 – after trying to grow our family for two years, we found out conception is medically impossible.
Winter 07-08 – researched adoption agencies and options.
February 2008 – applied for the domestic Voluntary Infant Program with Lutheran Social Services of the South.
March 2008 – we’re in! Woot!
June 2008 – attended seminar/training for the VIP program as part of our home study requirements.
August 2008 – had in-home interviews as part of our home study requirements.
October 2008 – home study completed!
November 2008 – wrote the biggest check of our lives. Sent in profile “scrapbooks” for potential birth parents to view.
December 2008 - ???- waiting. And waiting. And waiting. More waiting.
September 1, 2010 – received a call from case worker that a baby boy was just born and he was ours if we wanted him.
September 2, 2010 – drove to the hospital and met our son for the first time.
September 3, 2010 – filled out endless amounts of paperwork to make him officially ours.
September 4, 2010 – brought home the most wonderful boy ever to be born. Happiness ensued.
April 1, 2011 – adoption finalized and decree issued in court. It is finished!
